===================================
"The team got excited to hear there were friendly forces nearby. Thoughts of beer and brats flew through our heads. It would be great to get some sense of normality again. An argument ensued about whether brats were their own thing or glorified hot dogs. Logan was muttering, telling everyone nearby not to mention the word 'dog'."

Resolutions:
Marshall & Potato
The world of T2K is filled with things that have been forgotten. Some have been thrown away and others dropped when their owners fled or died. These things may be found and prove to be of some use. That is what Marshall (assisted by Potato) is attempting to do.

Two successes allows the team two rolls on the Scrounging table and the team finds a Box of chocolates (still edible) (2 Field Rations, Weight 0.25 ea., value 20 ea.) and an old credit card (value 1). Now all they need is a store so they can use the credit card to buy something to drink when eating their chocolate. Not a lot of chance of that happening but one can dream.
Logan
Logan is off by himself foraging. He runs into a group of wild dogs (8). The initial encounter range for 20 hexes (2D10 = 5 x 4). We will check for surprise by making an opposed Recon role.

Initiative - Turn 1
Now time to draw initiative for this round. We will draw once for the first and second group 4 dogs as well as Logan. The dogs have a Morale Factor of 5 (see the previous post).
Order |
Name |
6 |
Dog Group #2 |
8 |
Dog Group #1 |
9 |
Logan |
Initiative Step 6 - Dog Group #2
The dogs will move and then attempt a second Mobility roll to close the distance. The dogs have Agility C (D8) and Mobility B (D10). The results are:
- Dog #5 - 1 Success
- Dog #6 - Failure
- Dog #7 - 3 Successes (must be a racing dog)
- Dog #8 - 1 Success
Initiative Step 8 - Dog Group #1
The dogs will move and then attempt a second Mobility roll to close the distance. The dogs have Agility C (D8) and Mobility B (D10). The results are:
- Dog #1 - Failure
- Dog #2 - 1 Success
- Dog #3 - 2 Successes
- Dog #4 - 2 Successes
Initiative Step 9 - Logan
Logan has a pack of dogs bearing down on him. There are a lot and he is not confident of his ability to shoot them all down. He is not a marksman of the same quality as Griff or Macron.
He will move to put the stone wall between him and the dogs (Low Barrier) and fire a quick shot at the lead Dog #7. The range is 3 (Short) and he will 5 Ammo dice to the pool. Maybe he can get a couple extra hits on the other dogs in the hex.

We are not going to push the roll here. If we did, the three 1's could not be re-rolled and we could never get a success. The best we could hope for would be a suppression but at the cost of Logan's AK being reduced in reliability by three points! Not worth risking him being left without his longarm.
Initiative - Turn 2
Second round and really hoping Logan goes first.

Logan got lucky and is allowed to go first. He will aim this time (Fast Action) and fire a burst at the lead Dog #7. The range is 3 (Short) and he will 5 Ammo dice to the pool.

The bolt locks back and Logan has scored a total of 4 successes. The first and one of the ammo dice successes goes to Dog #7. The damage is 2 + 1 = 3, which causes a critical hit and kills the dog. The remaining two successes go to Dog #3 and Dog #4, causing 2 points of damage each and killing both. That is what the mutts get for being fast. Now if only the magazine wasn't empty…….
Initiative Step 6 - Dog Group #1
Again the dogs will move and attempt a Mobility roll afterwards. The results are:
- Dog #1 - 1 Success
- Dog #2 - Failure
Initiative Step 10 - Dog Group #2
Again the dogs will move and attempt a Mobility roll afterwards. The results are:
- Dog #5 - Failure

The dogs are getting within striking range.

The dogs have now suffered 50% losses and will begin to fall back, slinking away with their tails between their legs and a snarl, leaving their dead buddies where they lay. There has to be easier picking somewhere else. Logan seats a new magazine in case they come back.

Griff & Macron
Griff and Macron stumble upon an active repair yard. The range is 48 hexes (480m). There are 3D6 = 7 personnel at the site, with 4 guards and 3 mechanics. They are repairing 1D6 = 3 vehicles (a light truck, an APC and an air defense vehicle). They are NATO troops (German). They are certainly far from home.
For a little more information, we can haul the GME oracle out and pose a few questions:
[GME: Were the Germans involved in the previous offensive? - Chaos Rank 5 - Likely (75% - there are no other allied units in the vicinity, so they may escaped south during the WP counterattack) - 25% - Yes]
[GME: Are they attempting to return to Germany? - Chaos Rank 5 - Likely (75% - the Poles are probably not all that welcoming and the Soviets less so) - 51% - Yes]
[GME: Do they know about the presence of the B Troop? - Chaos Rank 5 - 50/50(50% - a toss-up here. The Cav troops are not far away and the Germany may have picked up radio chatter or encountered a patrol) - 73% - No]
Time for an introduction:
"Macron signals Griff to cover him before moving off to his left. After 30m, he stands slowly and raises his hand before waving lightly to get the attention of one of the guards. He takes a deep breath and uses his NCO outside-voice to send his greeting: 'Guten Tag, Freunde'."
Well, maybe they will be happy to see allied faces and they are open to contact.
[GME: Are they open to contact from other NATO forces? - Chaos Rank 5 - Somewhat Likely (65% - They are on the same side but this is the middle of war-torn Poland after all. The group would not be the first American marauders someone encountered) - 30% - Yes]
"A bearded Feldwebel waves Macron forward, allowing him to approach the camp. Once Macron comes within talking distance, he returns the greeting in English: Hello Ami, what brings you here today?"
The team has made new acquaintances. The will shoot the breeze a bit and return to camp to tell the others. Someone with an O in the their rank can come out and make contact.
