0055 - Recovering the OT-64 - Turn 5

1030 26 JUL 2000
=============

"Up front things looked desperate. Potato and Mitchell were up but the rest of the guys were on the ground with those savages hackin' at 'em. The showed no signs of lettin' up either, even when they were steppin' over the bodies of their friends, if you can call them that. Them dudes were just crazy, no two ways about it. What we did not know at the time was how many more of them guys were on the way. If we had, we would have probably broken contact."

At the beginning of the turn, the melee upfront is about evenly matched with five against five and wounded on both sides. There is another large group of primitives approaching and it could swing the tide.

Initiative Step 5

Actions:
• Mitchell will move to assist Griff with the primitives moving in on him
• Potato thinks that many more may be coming and decides to stop the flow with a grenade

Order of Actions:
• Mitchell (Agl 5)
• Potato (Agl 4)

Play:
Mitchell runs over and kicks Novice Polish primitive #8 lying on the ground after being knocked down last round.

[Kick Novice Polish primitive #8 – Asset Level 7 – Difficult (x1) – Target Number 7 – Roll(s): 14] - Miss. The primitive rolls out of the way in time.

Potato pulls a frag grenade from his web gear and throws it at a point just in front of Veteran Polish primitive #3. The distance is 32m (Effective Range)

[Throw grenade at the target point – Asset Level 9 – Difficult (x1) – Target Number 9 – Roll(s): 13] - Miss. The grenade goes long and to the right by three meters. It is almost where Potato wanted it to land.

Veteran Polish primitive #3 takes 15 points of concussion damage and is knocked down. Veteran Polish primitive #2 (1), Novice Polish primitive #16 (4), Novice Polish primitive #18 (1) and Novice Polish primitive #19 (3) also take damage from concussion but they are not knocked down.

Following the concussion are the fragments. Three primitives are in the primary burst radius. Veteran Polish primitive #3 takes 5 fragments (Right arm = 10, Abdomen = 10, Abdomen = 4, Right Leg = 5, Left Leg = 12, Total = 41) and is shredded by the grenade. Novice Polish primitive #16 takes 4 fragments (Right arm = 7, Chest = 4 x 2 = 8, Abdomen = 7, Right Leg = 5, Total = 27). The damage to the chest does not result in a quick kill but the primitive is knocked down. Novice Polish primitive #18 takes one fragment to the right leg for 6 and is knocked down by the combination of concussion and damage.

Six primitives are in the secondary blast radius. Novice Polish primitive #9 takes 1 fragment to the right arm for 1 point of damage. Veteran Polish primitive #2, Novice Polish primitive #12, Novice Polish primitive #19, Novice Polish primitive #20 and Novice Polish primitive #22 all take no fragments.

Initiative Step 4

Actions:
• Macron will again put three rounds into Experienced Polish primitive #5
• Griffin will again fire two rounds at the Novice Polish primitive #9

Order of Actions:
• Griffin (Agl 6 – Bulk 5 = 1)
• SSG Michael Macron (Agl 4 – Bulk 5 = -1)

Play:
Griffin fires twice at Novice Polish primitive #9. The range is EXTREMELY close.

[Fire at Novice Polish primitive #9 – Asset Level 12 – Difficult (x1 – Quick shot at close range) – Target Number 12, 10 on the second round due to recoil - Roll(s): 1, 19] - On hit (Outstanding success). The hit location is the right leg for 20 x 2 = 40 points of damage, killing Novice Polish primitive #9.

Macron fires three times at Experienced Polish primitive #5. The range is close.

[Fire at Experienced Polish primitive #5 – Asset Level 13 – Difficult (x1 – Quick shot at close range) – Target Number 13, 12 on the last round due to recoil - Roll(s): 10, 16, 6] - Two hits. The hit locations are the Left Leg (12) and the Head (9 x 2 = 18) for a total of 30. The primitive is killed.

Initiative Step 3

Actions:
• Veteran Polish primitive #2 will move forward and fire three rounds at Potato
• Marshall will fire at the primitive attacking Klasha
• 2LT Wayne Logan will keep an eye on the left flank
• Experienced Polish primitive #4 will attack Klasha with his club

Order of Actions:
• Veteran Polish primitive #2 (Agl 7 – Bulk 1 = 6)
• Experienced Polish primitive #4 (Agl 6)
• 2LT Jade Marshall (Agl 5)
• 2LT Wayne Logan (Agl 5)

Play:
Veteran Polish primitive #2 advances fires three rounds from his M9 at Potato. The range is 4m (Close).

[Fire at Potato – Asset Level 13 – Difficult (x1 – Quick shot at close range) – Target Number 13, 11 on the last round due to recoil - Roll(s): 1, 3, 4] - Three hits with two outstanding successes (ouch). The hit locations are Right Leg (3 x 2 = 6), Chest (Stopped by vest but 2 points of blunt trauma) and Abdomen (1 point of blunt trauma). Potato is knocked down and now has three scratch wounds.

Experienced Polish primitive #4 attacks again Klasha with his club.

[Attack Klasha with a club – Asset Level 11 – Difficult (x1) – Target Number 11 – Roll(s): 7] - The primitive has a possible hit.

Klasha again attempts to block the club using her UZI but Klasha does not have Armed Martial Arts as an asset. She will have to make an unskilled check against her attribute (Strength) only.

[Block the club attack – Attribute Level 4 – Impossible (x1/4 - normally formidable but the character is unskilled +1 DIFF Mod) – Target Number 1 - Roll(s): 16] - Klasha again fails to block and loses her turn. The primitive hits Klasha in the Left Leg for 4 + 3 (STR/2) = 7 points of damage. Klasha now has a scratch wound on her left leg and is knocked down.

Note: Klasha has almost no chance to block but she had to try. She has an Agility from 4. The damage from the club is 1D6 + 3 or a minimum of 4 points of damage. Anything but a 1 would mean that she will be knocked down and lose her turn. She at least has a chance to stop the damage before she loses her turn.

Marshall fire two rounds at Experienced Polish primitive #4. The range is 15m (Close).

[Shoot at Experienced Polish primitive #4 – Asset Level 7 – Difficult (x1 – Quick shot at Close range) – Target Number 7, 5 on the second round due to recoil - Roll(s): 9, 11] - Both rounds miss.

• SFC Jack Robinson will rush forward and kick Novice Polish primitive #8.

Order of Actions:

Play:
SFC Jack Robinson gets his feet underneath him and rushes forward to kick Novice Polish primitive #8.

[Kick Novice Polish primitive #8 – Asset Level 13 – Difficult (x1) – Target Number 13 – Roll(s): 5] - A hit.

The primitive will attempt to block the kick.

[Block the kick – Asset Level 9 – Formidable (x1/2) – Target Number 4 – Roll(s): 9] - The primitive fails to block. Robinson sweeps the leg for 5×1.5 = 8 (rounded). The primitive is seriously wounded and knocked down.

[Block the spear attack – Asset Level 11 – Formidable (x1/2) – Target Number 5 – Roll(s): 9] - The spear slips though and grazes Macron's left arm for 2 + 3 (1/2 STR) = 5. Macron is knocked off balance and falls to the ground.

Novice Polish primitives #13 moves to the entrance of the church and readies his longbow

Novice Polish primitives #14 moves through the church toward the entrance, followed by Novice Polish primitives #15 move through the church toward the entrance.
